Shu is a big fan of inori, a singer who has taken the internet world by storm.
However, he also discovers the other side of her, which is that she is a member of "Funeral Parlor", a resistance group that aims to liberate Japan from the GHQ. Shu starts taking a part in the actions of "Funeral Parlor" and the "King's Mark" appears on his right hand. This "mark" bestows on him the power to reach inside another person's body and extract and materialize a weapon from it.

Synopsis:- The episode starts with Inori Yuzuriha escaping the "GHQ" building, with the mission of stealing Void Genome. But she ended up being hurt from a Endlave, who were trying retrieve the Void Genome. Ayase helped trying to protect inori but she ended up falling in a river due to an explosion caused by the missiles of the "GHQ" Endlave. During the morning, Inori found shelter at Shu's warehouse studio.
Shu Ouma is a 17-year-old teen with poor social skills, living in Japan under the strict rule of the government organization GHQ in the wake of the Apocalypse Virus incident which occurred ten years ago. At his warehouse studio, he encounters Inori, the lead singer of the Internet band, "EGOIST", who is recovering from her wounds after stealing a formula called Void Genome from the "GHQ".
After Shu tends to her wounds and feeds her, Inori is captured by the "GHQ" Anti Bodies division led by Major Guin, and Shu is powerless to stop them. To make amends, Shu brings the Void Genome to Inori's boss, the leader of the resistance group "Funeral Parlor" at Roppongi. However, Major Guin orders the Anti Bodies to exterminate the residents of Roppongi in order to find the Void Genome.
As the members of "Funeral Parlor" and "GHQ" battle, Shu rescues Inori, protecting her when a "GHQ" Endlave mech tries to attack them. The attack breaks the test tube holding the Void Genome, giving Shu the "Power of Kings"; he pulls out Inori's Void, a large sword, and destroys the Endlave.
Activating the Void Genom, Shu pulls a giant
sword out of Inori and saves her at the last second from an incoming
Endlave (mecha) enemy. Another enemy approaches, but Shu manages to evade and defend
himself with the Void and then defeats him. With the battle coming to an
end, Shu returns the void he took from Inori and they escape to Gai.
The leader of the Anti Bodies division of GHQ Major Guin, isn’t happy
about the loss of the genom, so he takes all men, women
and children within the area hostage. To make matters worse the son of
the Major General, Second Lieutenant Daryl Yan, shows up in a
specialized Endlave. He is cruel and heartless and can’t stand being
touched by those he deems inferior to himself. Gai decides that now is
the time to make their group known to the public, and with the help of
Shu hatches a plan to save the hostages.

Shu is still shocked that not only has Inori transferred to his school but is living at his home as well. Meanwhile, GHQ Anti-Bodies Director Shuichiro Keido tasks GHQ Major Makoto Waltz Segai to track a series of hotspots where a genetic drug called the Norma Gene is being distributed. After Shu learns that Inori was sent to protect him, the two meet up with Gai, who reveals that a student at Shu's school, who is secretly a drug dealer for the Norma Gene nicknamed "Sugar", saw him during the Roppongi incident. After Gai confirms that he can see other people's Voids, Inori then teaches the basic principles of drawing out Voids to Shu, who confronts his classmates one by one, checking for a Void in the form of a pair of shears held by "Sugar". After several failures, Shu soon figures out "Sugar" is actually his friend Yahiro Samukawa, since his calm demeanor does not match his tastes in movies, thereby exposing his identity. Shu subdues an angry Yahiro by extracting his Void, but stops Inori from killing Yahiro. When Yahiro awakens, he and Shu both resolve to keep each other's secrets. However, Yahiro turns on Shu the next day by selling him out to GHQ, and Shu is then approached by Segai. For Episode 4 click here
Shu is apprehended by Segai in front of his classmates and is taken to GHQ Isolation Facility Four, where he remains silent about Funeral Parlor. As Segai is taking Shu to the isolation ward, he reveals that Yahiro's younger brother is receiving treatment at the facility due to being a victim of the Apocalypse Virus, for this is the reason for why Yahiro ratted Shu out. However, Segai dismays Shu when mentioning that Gai plans to rescue a mass murderer named Kenji Kido, giving Shu a transmitter, in the shape of a pen, to use when he comes in contact with Gai. Later that night, Gai, disguised as a lawyer, visits Shu to involve him in recusing Kenji, but Shu rejects assistance. As the facility's alarm suddenly goes off, Tsugumi informs the two that Inori has broken into the facility and plans to rescue Shu herself, ignoring orders. Gai is forced to change his group's plan of action against the GHQ Endlaves when Shu goes to save her. On the way there, after Ayase protects him from harm, Shu encounters Kenji, extracting and using his Void, in the form of a gravity manipulation device, to stop the GHQ Endlaves and rescue Inori. Following the facility's destruction, Shu once again is offered to join Gai and reluctantly accepts, however he keeps Segai's transmitter and does not inform Gai of their exchange. For Episode 5 click here
Shu is brought to Funeral Parlor Headquarters at Roppongi Fort, where Gai plans to hold a trial for Shu before he can officially join this resistant group. While preparing to lead a mission to take over the "Leukocyte", Gai assigns Ayase to instruct Shu in training him for the trial. Ayase holds onto his pen, unaware that it is a transmitter, using this as motivation. After a day of hard training with members Argo Tsukishima and Oogumo, Shu encounters Inori, realizing that Gai was the one who told her to convince him to join Funeral Parlor. After Inori enter Gai's room, a dejected Shu bumps into Ayase, who consoles and reinvigorates him for his trial. Unknown to them, however, Inori is actually giving Gai a blood transfusion. On the day of trial, Shu has a mock battle with Ayase, where the goal is to get past and into the vehicle placed behind her Endlave Steiner. After going to Argo to extract and use his Void, in the form of a flashlight that temporarily brings out blinding darkness, Shu manages to succeed the task and receives his pen back as his reward for passing the trial. Tsugumi gives the members a troubling report that Gai, who earlier led a team to intercept the arrival of mercenaries at an airport and confiscate their supplies, was attacked by the Leukocyte, an orbital satellite laser. For Episode 6 click here
Although Gai survives the attack, both his team and the mercenaries were killed by the Leukocyte blast. At the outskirts of Tsukigase Dam, Gai briefs Funeral Parlor that their next mission is to attack the dam where the Leukocyte control system is located, but Shu rejects this plan due to the percentage of members who might die. Meanwhile at Tsukigase Dam, Segai informs Keido that his men are prepared for Funeral Parlor's attack. As Gai gets another blood transfusion in a room alone, he feels burdened for the lives sacrificed during the Leukocyte incident. After eavesdropping on this, Shu has a brief exchange with Gai, but eventually agrees with the plan, understanding that Gai knows how much the lives sacrificed are worth to him. During the operation, Funeral Parlor distracts GHQ from guarding the dam, allowing Shu, Inori, Gai and Kenji to infiltrate the Leukocyte control system. As Shu hacks the control system using Kenji's Void, Segai sends Daryl to get Shu, but Gai defeats Daryl. However, Daryl damages the control system, causing Leukocyte I to malfunction and descend into Tokyo. As Segai shows up, Gai makes a deal with him to use the pen, which Gai was aware that it was a transmitter, in order to use Leukocyte III to destroy Leukocyte I, in exchange for Segai to delete all of Shu's data in relation to Funeral Parlor. While Gai prepares to line up the transmitter with the two Leukocyte satellites, Shu's wish to act upon this heeds Inori to fuse her Void with that of Kenji, creating a powerful laser weapon, which he uses to destroy both satellites just as their paths intersect. With the operation over, Shu finally accepts Gai's offer and joins Funeral Parlor. For Episode 7 click here
Shu returns to school, but deals with the rumors that have spread due to his absence. Luckily, the student council president Arisa Kuhouin fabricates a story for his apprehension to stop the rumors, but he has not heard any word about Yahiro since his capture. After school, Shu's stepmother Haruka Ouma returns home and welcomes Inori without much question. Meanwhile, Gai initiates a plan to acquire a new supply route for Funeral Parlor. The following night, Arisa and her grandfather, Okina Kuhouin, the head of a conglomerate called the Kuhouin Group, attend a party on a cruise ship whilst GHQ Colonel Dan Eagleman briefs Daryl, Segai and GHQ Intel Officer Rowan in using missiles to attack the ship, following intelligence that Okina plans to make a business deal with an international party outside Japan. As the operation begins, Shu and Gai sneak on board the ship dressed as guests. When Shu runs into Arisa, Gai distracts her while Shu receives information from Tsugumi regarding Eagleman's plan. To save the ship and its passengers, Gai tricks Arisa into coming to the upper deck, where Shu extracts her Void, in the form of a ball that projects a huge disc shield, and uses it to defend from the onslaught of missiles. Okina, after witnessing this operation, agrees to have the Kuhouin Group form a partnership with Funeral Parlor for their new supply route when contacting Shibungi, one of the members. Before leaving the ship, Gai tells Arisa that despite her toughened exterior, she is shy to the doting of others. As Shu and Inori leave for school the next day, Shu admits that for the first time he is glad for the power he possesses.

Before being tracked by Segai, Yahiro manages to escape with his younger brother Jun Samukawa after taking refuge at an orphanage. After school, Kanon makes an excuse to leave the classroom to give Hare the opportunity to go shopping alone with Shu when he arrives in the classroom. However, Hare's moment to confess to Shu on the train is inadvertently interrupted when Yahiro bursts in carrying drugs. After Shu parts with Hare, Yahiro takes him to see Jun, explaining that they went into hiding after the incident at the isolation ward, so Shu calls Ayase to arrange a transport in resolve to help Yahiro escape with Jun. However, GHQ tracked down Yahiro, and Segai and Daryl commence an operation to eliminate Jun, prompting Shu to forcibly extract Yahiro's Void. Daryl uses his Endlave to attack Shu, equipped a new weapon designed to target Voids, but Jun is targeted instead when he stands up, causing the virus to migrate into the Endlave. As it malfunctions, the Endlave proceeds to attack Yahiro, and as Shu stabs it with Yahiro's Void, he enters Jun's memories of the events before and during the Lost Christmas incident with Yahiro. Jun, saying that the virus enabled him to see Voids and the darkness of people's hearts including that of Yahiro, begs Shu to use Yahiro's Void to sever his life thread while he still has fond memories of Yahiro, which Shu reluctantly does so in order to save Yahiro's life. As Yahiro awakens, he is horrified when Shu admits to having killed Jun.
